Officer Matt Christian is our K-9 handler, Tanja is our working K-9.

  Officer Matt Christian is our current K-9 handler.  He went through 120 arduous hours of training to become a certified handler.  Officer Christian has bonded strongly with Tanja to become an invaluable part of the Ruidoso Police Department.

 

Here is our K-9 unit, keeping our community and schools safe and drug free.

 

            

 

               

 

 

Tanja receives her Bullet/Stab-proof vest that was graciously donated by Vest 'n P.D.P.  They are a non-profit organization that raises money to ensure the working K-9's have the vests to keep them as safe as possible.  Susie Jean is the founder and president of Vest 'n P.D.P.(Police Dog Protection).  She works diligently to raise money to provide these needed vests for police K-9's throughout the country.  One of her major contributors is Wal-mart.
