PAY SCALE
Uncertified Officer Level 1- $15.57/hr
Patrol Officer Level 1- $16.19/hr
Patrol Officer Level 7- $20.01/hr
Corporal Level 7- $21.52/hr
Detective Level 7- $28.04/hr
Sergeant Level 7- $28.04/hr
PERA Level 5
20 Year retirement @ 70%
22 Year retirement @ 80%
3 Floating Holidays per year
1 Birthday Holiday per year
Progressive sick leave and vacation accrual
WORK WEEK
4 10-Hour days
4 Month shift rotation
Shift Differential Pay: +.20/hr for swing shift and +.40/hr for graveyard shift
Day shift- 0645 to 1700
Swing shift- 1345 to 2400
Graveyard shift- 2045 to 0700
Overtime is paid every week for briefing time which is 15 minutes
Overtime and comp time accrual after 40 hours
Allowances, Benefits, and Extra Pay
$900 uniform cost allowance at hire
Uniform allowance of $100 per month
K-9 uniform allowance of $200 per month
Take-home vehicle within 20-mile radius
Call-out pay is equal to 2 times your hourly wage (minimum of 2 hours)
Tuition Reimbursement Program
Holiday pay is equal to 2.5 times your hourly wage
Health, Life, Death, and Vision insurance
Court Pay is equal to 1.5 times your hourly wage (minimum of 2 hours)
Longevity Check in December, $4.00 per month of employment
The Ruidoso Police Department consists of 27 commissioned law enforcement officers. We are slotted for 21 patrol officers, we have2 School Resource Officers, and we usually assign 1 officer to the Narcotics Enforcement Unit for undercover work. We also employ 9 certified dispatch officers.
Everyone gets involved with catching the bad guys, even our Chief of Police, Wolfgang Born, who aided in catching a bad guy in a foot pursuit.
